Nucleus Institute Launches Converge AI, Putting Utah's AI Companies and Universities in the Same Room

Forum series will visit universities statewide over the academic year

The Nucleus Institute today announced Converge AI, a new forum series that brings Utah's artificial intelligence companies and university researchers into the same room to find ways to work together.

Converge AI is part of the Nucleus Institute's work supporting Governor Spencer Cox's Pro-Human AI Initiative, which calls for an approach to AI that keeps people at the center of how the technology is developed and used. The series gives faculty, researchers, students, and industry leaders a place to convene to advance innovation and economic growth in Utah.

Over the academic year, Converge AI will visit each of Utah's public universities and R1 institutions, beginning October 22, 2026, at Weber, and USU and UVU later in the fall semester. Other universities will have events in the spring. Nucleus is holding these events across the state so companies and researchers can meet close to home 

The simple event format brings AI companies to campus to give brief presentations, followed by faculty members presenting their research and labs. The rest of the event is dedicated to conversation and networking. 

The goal of Converge AI is to create connections that lead to sponsored research, commercialization, internships, technology transfer, and other partnerships.
